For over 30 years, Michael Martin Murphey’s Cowboy Christmas has been a beloved holiday tradition, blending music from his best-selling Christmas albums with his classic country and pop hits. This multi-media celebration features Murphey’s renowned Rio Grande Band, dazzling stage lighting, Western art, master-artist photography, breathtaking video, and the wit and warmth of cowboy poetry.

Inspired by the historic Texas Cowboys’ Christmas Ball of 1885, Murphey carries on the timeless tradition of music, dancing, and storytelling that honors both Western heritage and the sacred spirit of the season. Today, Cowboy Christmashas grown into a full-scale live concert production, offering audiences a heartfelt and joyous holiday experience—cowboy-style.

Michael Martin Murphey’s musical journey has taken many unpredictable paths over the past 50 years.  Topping the Pop, Country, Western and Bluegrass charts, Murphey has never been one to rest on his laurels.

Murphey’s long-running incarnation as a purveyor of the music, lifestyle, and values of the American West is one of many musical mantles he has worn over the years. To track his career path is to span the country itself, from coming of age in the Texas folk music scene, to Los Angeles to Colorado to Nashville and then back to his native Texas.
