Where we've come from and where we're going...

Welcome to our first blog post as we enter our Eigth Season at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center!

If this is your first time visiting our website or if you are a long time patron, we are looking forward to sharing updates, news, and information about our favorite place in San Angelo where the 'Arts Come Alive!'

While we haven't committed to a blog schedule--since this is something new for us and we have to fit it into our routine operations, we will do our best to engage you on at least a weekly basis to let you know what's going on, to share the history of SAPAC, and to let you know where we are going.

We also plan to use this space to discuss the evolving and dynamic ecosystem of performing arts in West Texas.  If you didn't already know, West Texas is on the cusp of a performing arts renaissance and we are part of it, one might even say that we are a key gateway to the West Texas performing arts scene.

It was a truly visionary and important endeavor when our community came together to rennovate the old City Auditorium into the Elta Joyce Murphey Performance Hall and to transform the old Coca-Cola factory into the Stephens Performing Arts Center that houses the Brooks & Bates Theater and a black box theatre along with two resident companies:  Ballet San Angelo and Be Theatre.

If you haven't visited our spaces yet, here are some photos taken by the talented Jim Bean of San Angelo.  Check out more of his work at http://jimbean.com/
